Company also announces partnership with Ukraine to develop layered air defenses

Qatari state-owned company Barzan Holdings showcased more than a dozen defense platforms at Milipol 2026 in Doha. The new systems include FPV and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) drones, unmanned surface vessels, electronic-warfare platforms and secure communications tools.

Barzan displayed several FPV reconnaissance and rapid-deployment drones for the first time. The models described can carry payloads of 1.5 to 4 kilograms, have ranges of up to 20 kilometers and can remain airborne for as long as 20 minutes, depending on the configuration.

The company also presented the H Silent ISR, designed for surveillance, border security and critical-infrastructure protection. It features an electro-optical and infrared gimbal, an endurance of up to 40 minutes and a datalink range of 40 kilometers. The ISR VTOL-400 can carry a 4-kilogram payload, operate at altitudes of up to 10,000 feet and reach speeds of 110 kilometers per hour.

Unmanned vessels and secure communications

Barzan’s maritime displays included the Rasid USV, an unmanned jet ski-style craft intended for surveillance missions, and the Barzan Conversion Solution, a coast guard vessel that can operate either with a crew or autonomously.

The company also introduced Secure Comms VPN and Secure Comms CHAT, which it said are designed to support secure communications and protect users’ privacy.

Ukrainian partnership targets air defense

At the exhibition, Barzan announced a joint venture with Ukrainian company Carmine Sky to develop a “Full-Cycle Air Defence” capability. The project is intended to combine threat detection, identification and neutralization in a layered architecture to protect critical assets.

According to Barzan, the system is expected to counter a range of drones, from FPV models to jet-powered UAVs. It will incorporate radar, radio-frequency sensors, electronic-warfare systems and hard-kill capabilities.

The announcements reflect Qatar’s effort to expand its domestic defense industry under the “Made in Qatar” initiative and strengthen its ability to protect critical infrastructure and counter aerial threats.
