Successful Showcasing at IDEX 2025
Emirati defense conglomerate EDGE Group concluded the International Defense Exhibition and Conference (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi with impressive momentum, securing new contracts valued at just under $3 billion, primarily with the United Arab Emirates. The firm announced the signing of 16 contracts, the launch of 46 innovative “solutions,” and the establishment of 32 strategic international agreements during the event.
Major Contracts Highlighted
Among the standout contracts was a significant $1.2 billion agreement with the UAE’s Ministry of Defense focused on aerial munitions. Additionally, a $524 million deal was finalized with the UAE navy through EDGE subsidiary Maestral for in-service support. Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, expressed satisfaction with the accomplishments of the week, attributing the success to strong support from their primary customer and robust interest from international partners.
Looking ahead to IDEX 2027, Al Marar confidently predicted remarkable achievements for EDGE, building on the company’s foundations laid five years ago at its establishment.
Diverse Offerings on Display
During the expo, EDGE showcased an extensive array of platforms in a large central exhibit, featuring everything from armored vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to ground vehicles and aerial munitions. Analyst Leonardo Jacopo Maria Mazzucco noted that while EDGE solidified partnerships to enhance domestic capabilities across naval, land, and air sectors, the predominant volume of deals was in the automation domain.
EDGE introduced new armored and robotic vehicles, notably the HAVOC RCV, and inked a contract to integrate MILSAR radars from Turkish Meteksan Defence onto its Garmoosha UAV. The firm also collaborated with GM Defense to incorporate a drone launcher on a light tactical vehicle, demonstrating the potential of this partnership at the show.
Strategic Partnerships and Global Expansion
The numerous agreements forged by EDGE with international weapon manufacturers signify the company’s comprehensive business expansion strategy, aimed at strengthening its presence in both Western and Asian defense markets. Among the collaborations were memorandums of understanding with Turkish FNSS to modernize the UAE’s infantry fighting vehicles, a partnership with German HENSOLDT for naval technology cooperation, and an agreement with Brazilian SIATT for supplying MANSUP anti-ship missiles to the Brazilian Navy.
Mazzucco emphasized the importance of swiftly operationalizing business partnerships for EDGE’s growth, focusing on building human capital, enhancing domestic expertise, and increasing sales revenues.
Emphasis on Innovation
Albert Vidal, a research analyst from the London-based think tank IISS, highlighted the significance of the products unveiled by EDGE, the partnerships formed, and the contributions from the Advanced Concepts, Electro-Optics Center of Excellence, and Radar & EW center. These developments reflect EDGE’s commitment to innovation and collaboration in the defense sector.
