Veteran Leader Takes the Helm Amid Strategic Transition
Lockheed Martin, a pivotal player in defense contracting, has appointed Evan Scott as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective immediately. The announcement signals a significant leadership change as Scott steps into the role previously held by Jesus “Jay” Malave, who is leaving to pursue other opportunities.
Scott’s Extensive Background within the Company
A Lockheed Martin veteran with 26 years of experience, Scott has predominantly occupied finance-based roles within the organization. His career highlights include serving as the company’s treasurer and CFO of two distinct business units. Most recently, he was the CFO for Lockheed’s Missiles and Fire Control division, a position he began in January 2024.
“Evan has earned the utmost respect as an experienced finance and operations leader,” stated CEO Jim Taiclet. “His deep understanding of our business and mission makes him the right choice to drive our continued growth and lead our finance organization with excellence.”
Transition of Leadership: From Malave to Scott
Malave took the CFO position in February 2022, arriving from L3Harris, and was Lockheed Martin’s first CFO from outside the organization. His departure comes as the company navigates a complex defense landscape.
Upcoming Financial Reporting and Expectations
On April 22, Lockheed will present its financial results for the first quarter of 2025. Investors may be looking for insights on how recent challenges, such as issues related to the Air Force’s sixth-generation fighter program and potential impacts from President Donald Trump’s tariffs, will affect the company’s financial outlook. However, Lockheed executives indicated they will reaffirm the previously issued 2025 guidance, excluding any evolving implications of tariffs and the recent announcements regarding the Next Generation Air Dominance program.
As Lockheed Martin transitions into this new financial leadership, all eyes will be on how Evan Scott navigates the company’s strategies in a rapidly changing defense environment.
