The integration of cutting-edge technology into the US military is undergoing an unprecedented digital transformation. Through JIATF 401, a task force specialized in synchronizing efforts against unmanned aerial threats, Smart Shooter systems are now available in a format similar to an online marketplace. This digital hub allows military users across different branches to filter capabilities and quickly select the equipment needed to protect critical infrastructure and personnel.
From special forces to the big army: A strategic expansion
The presence of Smart Shooter technology on the battlefield is not entirely new; it was first spotted on the rifles of US Special Forces in Syria as early as 2020. What began as a targeted evaluation for the Special Operations Command (SOCOM) has evolved into a large-scale acquisition. The system has now reached the „big army” and the Army Reserves, marking a significant market penetration and a validation of these fire control systems in high-stakes combat scenarios.
Beyond jamming: The urgent need for kinetic solutions in modern warfare
The surge in interest is driven by the rapidly changing nature of drone threats. Conflicts in Ukraine and Lebanon have shown that electronic jamming is no longer a universal solution, particularly against fiber-optic drones that are immune to traditional electronic warfare. This shift is driving an increased demand for kinetic solutions—physical elimination of targets with surgical precision. Smart Shooter aims to bring this precision to all platforms, moving beyond handheld rifles to remote weapon stations like the Smash Hopper, which can be deployed on vehicles.
Global success and resilience in the international defense market
Outside its partnership with the United States, the company has secured significant orders in Israel and Australia. A recent $2.2 million agreement with the Israeli Ministry of Defense focused on supplying Smash Hopper remote-controlled weapon stations, while the Australian Defence Force is currently evaluating the SMASH 3000 system. Despite facing political hurdles at international defense exhibitions, such as Eurosatory in France, global interest remains high, confirming the technology’s status as a cornerstone of future defense architecture.
