In a strategic move aimed at accelerating troop equipment, the Department of the Army has inaugurated a permanent testing facility where industrial partners and researchers can integrate new technologies directly onto platforms owned by the US Government.
Beyond manufacturer limits: Reveille Forge transforms Operation Jailbreak success into a permanent IDE environment
The new operational facility, officially named Reveille Forge and configured as an Integrated Development Environment (IDE), capitalizes on the recent success of the Operation Jailbreak mission. This initiative demonstrated that when the interfaces of both legacy and new equipment are opened, data interoperability becomes a tactical reality, eliminating software barriers previously imposed by major defense contractors.
Located within the Redstone Arsenal complex in Alabama, the center will be directly managed by PAE Fires. Lieutenant General Frank Lozano emphasized that Reveille Forge will function as a „permanent hackathon,” a space where industry and academia no longer work in isolated silos but collaborate as a single team to modernize the air and missile defense systems of the United States.
Accelerating the procurement process: How the API Marketplace and interoperability tests deliver technology faster to Soldiers
The implementation of Reveille Forge complements the API Marketplace, a secure forum where companies can publish their interfaces to facilitate rapid collaboration. This new approach radically changes the development cycle: system integration is no longer the last stage, but the first. Any vendor that proves its product can communicate effectively with the Pentagon’s architecture receives priority access to capability reviews and official testing.
The process is structured to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy. Once a product proves it is interoperable on government platforms, it enters a „capability review” stage coordinated by PAE Fires experts. Success in this testing environment can lead directly to acquisition decisions, ensuring a steady flow of modern technology to operational units at a pace adapted to contemporary battlefield threats.
