Brent Ingraham assumes leadership of the ASA(ALT), while Michael Obadal becomes the Army’s No. 2 civilian leader.

The Army officially swore in Brent Ingraham as the new leader of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (ASA(ALT)), a key office responsible for the service’s weapons procurement.

Ingraham’s Background: A Proven Leader in Acquisition

Ingraham, a 15-year veteran of the federal government, succeeds Jesse Tolleson, who will now serve solely as Ingraham’s deputy. The ASA(ALT) oversees a $170 billion portfolio of over 550 Army acquisition programs. Ingraham’s most recent role was as the deputy undersecretary of defense for acquisition and sustainment. He also served as executive director of the Joint Rapid Acquisition Cell.

Driving Innovation and Readiness

„Mr. Ingraham will oversee a $170 billion portfolio across more than 550 Army acquisition programs, ensuring Soldiers remain equipped with cutting-edge technologies and capabilities to meet future challenges,” according to an Army announcement. „Under his leadership, ASA(ALT) will continue to drive innovation, acquisition excellence, and logistical readiness for the Army.”

Obadal Confirmed as Undersecretary

Michael Obadal was also confirmed by the Senate as the Army’s undersecretary, the No. 2 civilian leader. He succeeds David Fitzgerald, who had been serving as acting undersecretary.

Obadal’s Anduril Ties: Recusal Plan in Place

Obadal joins the Army after serving as a senior director at Anduril, a defense technology firm. He holds a significant amount of vested and unvested restricted stock in the company. To address potential conflicts of interest, Obadal confirmed a plan to recuse himself from matters involving his former employer, adhering to guidelines from the Office of Government Ethics.

A Career of Service

Prior to his time at Anduril, Obadal served in the Army for nearly 30 years as a special operations aviator.
